For the past decade, Lloyd's Register of Shipping vetoed its trustees' annual proposal to match inflation for pre-1997 pensioners.
The cumulative result? Pensions fell by about 1/3 in real terms... and continue to fall!
This is unsustainable for a group of vulnerable old people - and a stain on a once-honourable institution.
